IPL 2022 latest news is that two new teams have been added to the IPL setup and they are Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Giants. While the RSPG Group bought Lucknow Giants in the auction for an amount of Rs. 7000 Crores, Gujarat Titans was bought by CVC Capital for Rs. 6000 Crores.

According to reports, KL Rahul will be the caption for Lucknow Giants and Shreyas Iyer will lead Gujarat Titans. Apart from this, Andy Flower has been appointed as the head coach for Lucknow Giants for this season of IPL. Reports are rife that Hardik Pandya and David Warner will play for Gujarat Titans while Rashid Khan will be playing for Lucknow Giants.

Meanwhile, Lucknow Giants has also roped in Gautam Gambhir, former Indian cricketer and captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, as the mentor for IPL 2022.

List of Retained Players IPL 2022

The list of retained players for all the teams playing the IPL this year goes like this:

  • Mumbai Indians has retained Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard for IPL 2022 while leaving behind Ishan Kishan. MI paid 16 crore for Rohit Sharma; 8 crore for Suryakumar Yadav; 12 crore for Jasprit Bumrah and 6 crore for Kieron Pollard.

Players for the New Teams in IPL 2022

As per rules set by the BCCI, Gujarat Titans can choose maximum 3 players from the IPL 2022 auction pool players. Gujarat Titans has bagged in Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan for Rs. 15 crores each while the franchise has also roped in Shubham Gill for Rs. 8 crores. Rules of Retention IPL 2022

The retention rules for IPL 2022 are:

  • • Each team including IPL 2022 CSK is allowed to keep only three capped or uncapped Indian players and two foreign players with the total number of retentions not going above four.
  • • Also, it is quite clear that the teams cannot keep more than two uncapped players.
  • • The two new teams in the IPL season this year can choose 2 Indian and 1 foreign player before the commencement of the auction.
  • • According to conditions, team management has the power of either retaining three Indian players and one foreign player or two Indian players and two foreign players.
  • • The new teams in the IPL 2022 can choose only one uncapped player before the mega auction.
  • • RTM cards or Right To March cards are not available to the IPL teams this season.

About IPL 2022 Points Table

IPL or the Indian Premiere League has a huge fan following across the world. This year the IPL has been scheduled between March 26 and May 29 2022. There are neutral venues decided for the match with each team playing at just four out of the six venues during the league stage. The tournament features 11 double-headers and there will be no spectators for the matches held at different stadiums.

The IPL 2022 points table goes like this:

If there are two teams with the same points, the position of a particular team on the points table will be decided by the NRR or Net Run Rate of the team. The NRR in the matches is the average number of runs that a team is successful in scoring per over, minus the average number of runs scored against the team per over.
